Our flagship product, S.A.M. (Sound Amplifying Machine), offers a smarter, more sustainable solution by using ultrasonic waves to disrupt algae growth before it can take hold.
Unlike floating chlorine dispensers or metal-based alternatives, S.A.M. is a chemical-free, eco-friendly device that works continuously to maintain clear, healthy water. It’s battery-powered, easy to use, and floats on the pool’s surface, requiring no integration with filtration systems. By reducing the need for costly algaecides and minimizing algae blooms, S.A.M. lowers the average pool owner’s chemical expenses by up to 70% annually.

Garrett Stigall is an engineer, entrepreneur, and the co-founder of Pool Protection Technologies, where he helped develop S.A.M., the first ultrasonic algae prevention device designed for residential pools. With over a decade of hands-on experience in the pool industry, Garrett began as a pool technician at age 11 in Savannah, Georgia, and later pursued his passion for innovation and sustainability at the University of Georgia, where he earned his bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
Motivated by the chlorine shortage of 2021 and the rising costs of pool maintenance, Garrett led the development of a chemical-free, eco-friendly solution that has transformed how pool owners care for their pools. His work has been recognized across the country and internationally, earning awards at innovation competitions in Brazil, Canada, and throughout the Southeast. He was named UGA’s 2024 Entrepreneur of the Year and the “Most Investable Founder” on Amazon Prime’s startup show The Blox.
Garrett is committed to building practical, science-backed technologies that improve everyday life. Outside of entrepreneurship, he enjoys competitive swimming, volunteering in his community, and exploring the intersection of science, faith, and sustainability.
