GreenCape Health provides mPRO, a patient reported outcomes platform that allows patients to record their symptoms and disease activity between their face-to-face visits. Care teams use this data to remotely monitor, triage, and dynamically reschedule patients based on real-time disease trajectory.
GreenCape has partnered with two private rheumatology groups, Annapolis Rheumatology and Articularis Healthcare Group. Annapolis Rheumatology services patients throughout the Northern VA, Washington DC, and Maryland region. Articularis serves patients from 22 cities in 10 states, from Bellingham, WA to Summerville, SC.
GreenCape has partnered with industry experts to explore expanding into serious respiratory illness, palliative and hospice care, and support for clinical research.
Mark Elfers is the CEO and co-founder of GreenCape Health.
He was born in Buffalo, NY and graduated with an Aerospace Engineering degree from the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.
Mark served in the US Marine Corps as an AV-8B Harrier pilot. During his 20-year career, he deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, and commanded VMA-214, the Black Sheep squadron in Yuma, AZ.
Mark retired from the Marines and joined Amgen, the biotechnology company, in Thousand Oaks, CA. Mark helped launch Amgen's biosimilars Amgevita, Avsola, Mvasi, and Kanjinti. He left Amgen to join Blue Note Therapeutics, a prescription digital therapeutics company focused on created FDA-approved mobile applications for patients suffering from cancer-related psychological distress.
He left Amgen to create Elevate Therapeutics, a digital palliative care company, with two medical doctors / clinical researchers from the Massachusetts General Hospital. The Elevate team worked with Valtruis to create Tuesday Health, a medical services company focused on the palliative care.
In September 2023, Mark met Daniel Solomon, MD MPH, from the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. Dr. Solomon had been building, studying, and improving a patient-reported outcomes platform for patients with rheumatological disease for nearly seven years. They worked together for a nearly a year before creating GreenCape Health in August 2024.
Mark is married, has three daughters, and lives in Greenville, SC.
